10 Favorite Hair Products

I have been coloring my hair ever since 8th grade when I bought a box set that turned my hair a lovely orange tint. Yep, that was the beginning of my hair coloring experience. 🤷🏼‍♀️Ever since then, I have LOVED getting my hair cut, colored, styled, and just learning new things to do with my hair. Over the years, I have found some products that I swear by, and use on a consistent basis. From leave-in conditioners to curl enhancers to ponytail holders to curling irons!

Before we dive in, I'll tell you this...I used to really struggle with thinning hair. It was getting to the point where the ends were turning into wisps and my scalp was pretty easy to see when I put my hair up. Through some lifestyle changes, my hair has recently become thicker and healthier over the past 2 years. I strongly believe it is from using some of these products more, less heat, more air drying, and shampooing less (I used to shampoo it everyday. Now I just wash my hair when needed). Also, learning how to manage stress has worked wonders in my life for my mental health and yep, also for my hair! Check out some before and after pictures below!

One more very important thing I've learned along the way is the power of having a good hair stylist. I have had the same person do my hair since high school and she is AMAZING! She is truly a master at what she does, and I just completely trust her. That makes a huge difference.

Let's get started!

Top 10 Favorites:

1. It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Conditioner

Spray on damp hair and you will be amazed with how smooth, shiny, and healthy your hair will become. I have used this stuff for years, and LOVE IT! It also protects my hair against any heat damage as well.

2. Biolage Color Last Shampoo and Conditioner (any Biolage shampoo/conditioner)

The scent of this stuff is heavenly! High quality shampoo and conditioner has truly made a difference for my hair. Right now I'm using the Hydra Source which I like just as much as the Color Last shampoo. You really can't go wrong with Biolage.

3. IGK Beach Club Volume Texture Spray

This texture spray will make your hair look like you took a swim in the ocean and just got done letting it air dry on the beach. It amazes me every time I use it. I also love using this when I don't want to use heat on my hair or have the time to curl it, but want a wavy look.

4. Texturizing Beach Sea Salt Spray

This salt spray is similar to the IGK Beach Club Spray but it isn't as long lasting. I use this mainly to freshen up a wavy look by spraying a little and twisting the waves. The smell is amazing too!

5. Kitsch Heatless Drying Scrunchie

I discovered these this year, and I am SO glad I did! I wrap a scrunchie around wet hair in a bun at night, go to bed, and the next morning, I am left with waves! Sometimes my hair is still a little wet, so I just do a few very quick touch ups with the blow dryer and curling iron and I'm done! It's such a quick go-to!

6. Straightener (I've had my Chi one since I was 16...still going strong!)

Yep, I still have my hot pink Chi straightener from high school. I'll eventually get a new one, but this one is still going strong! It's nice having the option to straighten my hair if I want, so it's one of my favorites. When I buy a new straightener, this is the one I'd like to get...HSI Professional Glider Flat Iron

7. Seamless and Damage Free Ponytail Holders

I swear these things have helped my hair get thicker simply because they don't cause damage like other ponytail holders. They don't leave big creases and they are comfy.

8. Detangler Hair Brush

This brush = smooth, frizz-free, shiny hair. Also, it's pain free which is another plus! It's also great to use while styling my hair with a blow dryer.

9. Curling Iron Wand

Curling iron wands have been my go-to for beachy waves for a while now. Curling wands make it quick and simple to give your hair beautiful curls. I usually leave a few inches off of the wand on the bottom section of my hair wand to create the look below. :)

10. Not a product but...be careful with over-washing (or not washing enough), overheating, or causing unwanted damage.

When my hair was thinning, I truly did not understand how much damage I was causing by washing daily, blow drying daily, and then using either a curling iron or a straightener daily. I was frying my hair and depriving it of the hydration and nutrients it needed to be healthy. Knowing what your hair needs to be healthy is key!

In the end, hair is just hair, but I love being able to be creative with it and try new styles with it. I have also really enjoyed seeing it transform from being really thing to a healthier thickness. I'm sure I'll find more products and items along the way that will become part of my routine, but for now...these are my favorites!
