A Week In Saint Augustine, Florida 🏝

If you're looking for a charming, dreamy, entertaining, and relaxing place to vacation....Saint Augustine, Florida is your place! I just spent a full week there with my best friend and her 2 year old daughter and it was AMAZING!

Before we left for our trip, I researched all kinds of things about St. Augustine and found them to be very helpful, so I decided to put together my very own post to for others!

✈️ Travel Day:

We used Allegiant Airlines, which I have used a couple of times in the past. It was a direct flight to Sanford Orlando Airport and from there it was an hour and a half drive to the condo right off of Crescent Beach.

Air Sickness Tips:

I have always struggled with getting air sick, but over the years, I have perfected my pre-flight routine so I don't experience nausea (or at least minimal nausea).

  • 💧Stay hydrated! Drink water before the plane ride. Not too much that you can feel it sloshing around, but enough that you feel hydrated.

  • 🥗 Get a good and healthy meal in your stomach before the flight. Flying on an empty stomach is a recipe for an upset stomach.

  • 🥶 Stay cool. Wear clothes that aren't too warm for the flight and try to find a spot to sit and not move around and get overheated before the flight. Staying calm, cool, and collected is key!

  • ⭐️ BEST TIP: Wear a Relief Band and take Bonine one hour before the flight (I take 2). The combination of these two things has worked miracles for me. I have always taken Bonine, which I love because is doesn't cause drowsiness. I recently discovered the Relief Band and truly don't know what I did without it before. LIFE CHANGING. Click HERE to see a YouTube video on the science behind the Relief Band.

Downtown & Saint George Street:

Some of the best things about downtown is the beautiful architecture, shopping, and history all mixed together to make for an amazing experience.

Food:
  • Hyppo Popsicles- This is the most dreamy, adorable little shop! The popsicles are delicious and there is a variety of flavors to choose from. My favorite...Blueberry Cinnamon

  • Pizza Alley - The restaurant is stretched out in a literal alley and their pizza is delicious! Highly recommend.

  • Casa Reina - Gorgeous atmosphere and delicious Mexican food! The Avocado Enchilada was SO good!

  • Cousteau's Waffle House- So many yummy waffle flavors to chooses from. You can't go wrong!

  • Kookabura Coffee- A St. Augustine classic! I loved their Aussie Pie's and signature drinks!

Shops & Other Spots:

St. Augustine Lighthouse:

I would highly recommend going to the Saint Augustine Lighthouse either early or later in the day. You will avoid crowds and you will avoid extreme heat, especially if you are climbing to the top of the lighthouse.

The lighthouse property itself is beautiful! There are tall oak trees surrounding the lighthouse and several historical buildings that have been turned into museums. It's all just so pretty! We did not climb it due to having a toddler with us and height requirements, but I would recommend climbing it if possible!

Other Adventures:

  • Fort Castillo de San Marcos- So much history in one fort right on the water's edge! You don't want to miss this!

  • The Alligator Farm - I was amazed at all of the animals they have here! So many fun alligator, bird, and tropical species to observe!

  • National Shrine of Our Lady La Leche- A beautiful, tall cross, a peaceful chapel, and just and overall gorgeous memorial. Highly recommend!

  • Washington Oaks Garden & Beach State Park- DO NOT MISS THIS! Especially the garden area. The dreamy oaks that scatter throughout the garden make you feel like you're in a fairytale. It's so beautiful! There's also a beach with rocks that you can climb on...nature's playground!

  • Fiesta Falls Miniature Golf - Hands down the best miniature golf course I've ever been to! Lots of water features, multi-leveled (stairs and hills), and fun holes!

Beach and Pool Time:

One of the best parts of vacation was being able to walk out of the condo and have such close access to the pool and the beach. It was so fun being able to choose between the pool or the beach or flip-flop between the two throughout each day.

Items that made life easier on my trip:

MY FAVORITE SUNGLASSES: By Blenders

Next Time...

  • Ghost Tours I think this would be so fun, especially around Halloween! Something to look into for the future!

  • I would love to go sometime during Christmas time too. The city is completely transformed with twinkling lights, and I would love to see that!

Overall, I would highly recommend visiting Saint Augustine. It is beautiful, charming, and there's plenty to do for everyone!

Thanks for reading! 💛 Ali
